The highest grade of saffron in the world was grown right here in Warkworth, Ontario by True Saffron Producers.

Although they are no longer in production, we were able to purchase the majority of the saffron from their final growing season, so we’ll have plenty for many chocolate bars to come.

The most expensive spice in the world, known as red gold, grew for 5 years amidst the rolling hills of Northumberland County. This local saffron has been evaluated by the International Organization for Standardization and deemed to be among the very best in the world: Grade 1.

This has been an award-winning collaboration, with both Canadian and International awards:

• Our True Saffron Bar won a silver medal at the International Chocolate Awards 2019, a gold medal at the International Chocolate Awards 2019 Canadian Competition, and an award of distinction in the 2019 Canadian Chocolate Awards for — Local Ingredients.
• Saffron, Strawberry & Rhubarb Bar was a silver medal winner at the International Chocolate Awards, 2018 Canadian Competition.
